At the end of the season, a triathlete walks into an athletic center and bellies up to the stationary bike. Another triathlete is already spinning away. They greet each other and size each other up. After a few minutes of spinning (but still below ventilatory threshold), the first triathlete says to the second, "So I did six sprint triathlons this season and placed in my age group in three.". The second triathlete replies, "Hey, not bad. I completed four Iron-distance races.". Impressed, the first triathlete says, "Wow, you're a real triathlete alright. How many races would I have to do to become a real triathlete like you?". The second triathlete replies, "Oh, just one more than me.".
